Decorative timber verandah posts and heritage-style columns
Compare the V6 decorative timber post and V7 heritage-style verandah column, made in Melbourne from LOSP-treated pine. These alternatives to the V1–V5 turned range have different outlines and section arrangements. View the full-length photographs first, then open the product page for its diagram and options.
V6 - a straighter decorative profile
The V6 layout combines square ends with a straighter decorative middle section. Compare the illustrated shaping and section arrangement with your project. Open the V6 product page to view the sizing guide and available selectors.
V7 - a heritage-style column
The V7 column offers a different decorative outline, with fluting and handrail choices in its product options. Check the photograph and diagram alongside the configuration you require. Open the V7 product page for the existing options.
Confirm the finished dimensions before ordering
V6 and V7 retain legacy option labels that include the word “Material”. Do not assume those labels describe the finished post length. Send your required overall length, square width and depth, top and bottom clearances, decorative-section length and rail position so the workshop can confirm the correct configuration.
For Victorian or Federation replacement work, compare the original profile rather than choosing by the period name alone. Our heritage post matching guide explains what details to record. If the standard column does not match, use the custom timber porch post service for a profile review.
Replacing an existing post?
Overall height and square width are only the starting point. Compare the top square, bottom square, decorative section, collars and any rail connection. A standard profile is suitable only when those details meet your project requirements. For a different outline or section arrangement, send a custom matching enquiry.
Supply an original by arrangement, or full-length square-on photographs with a tape beside the post in the same plane and written dimensions in millimetres. Include detail close-ups, quantity and delivery postcode. Use our measuring guide and fillable A4 worksheet.
See an original matched in the workshop
For a Hawthorn, Melbourne project in 2024, the customer brought in an original post to match. Manufacture took four weeks for that job. View the original and its replacements. Ask the workshop to confirm timing for your own profile and quantity.
